On 2nd June, 1915, the 2nd Royal Welsh Fusiliers battalion of 19 Brigade which at that time were part of 27th Division, moved into trenches at La Vesee, near Bois-Grenier, just to the south of Armentières where they remained until relieved on 8th June. Thomas Booth was killed here on 5th June when the battalion diary recorded that there was ‘a good deal of sniping and shelling’.
