William Cooper died of wounds on 1st May after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Middlesex battalion were part of 23 Brigade, 8th Division that had been in action during both the German offensive on the Somme which began on 21st March, 1918 and the Battle of Villers-Bretonneux at the end of April, 1918. |
