Edward Blaby died from gas poisoning after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was gassed. The 12th London battalion were originally part of 56th Division but at the end of January, 1918 had amalgamated with the 2nd 12th London battalion and had become part of 175 Brigade, 58th Division which had been in action during both the German offensive on the Somme which began on 21st March and the Battle of Villers-Bretonneux at the end of April. |
