The 28th London Battalion (Artist’s Rifles) arrived in France on 28th October, 1914 where they became an Officers Training Corps based at Bailleul. On 27th November, 1914 they were digging trenches near Brewery Inn, Neuve Eglise, when they suffered their first casualties. William Thompson was one of two men killed by a shell on that day. |
