On 15th May, 1915, the 1st Scots Guards of 1 Brigade, 1st Division moved into trenches at Le Routoire near Vermelles where they remained until relieved on 19th May. Henry Fulford was killed here on 16th May when their positions were shelled and one of the battalion’s machine guns was destroyed. |
