John Petherick died from wounds on 17th May, 1917, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 13th London (The Kensingtons) battalion had arrived in France in November 1914 and been attached to 25 Brigade, 8th Division. During the winter of 1914-1915 they were in and out of the front line around Laventie and Fauquissart, to the south of Armentieres from where they were finally relieved on 1st March, 1915. After that they had been in action during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle in March, 1915 and at Aubers Ridge in May, 1915. |
