John Eldridge died on 12th December, 1914 but as yet there is no information as to where and on what date he was wounded. The 1st Royal Fusiliers battalion was part of 17 Brigade, 6th Division that had been on the Western Front since September, 1914 and had been holding the line at Fauquissart near Laventie in December of that year. Oddly, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission record him as being commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial to the Missing, but also show him to be buried in Manor Park Cemetery, London. |
