Alfred Clements died from wounds on 16th November, 1914, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 1st East Yorkshire battalion was part of 18 Brigade, 6th Division that had arrived in France in September, 1914 and had been involved in the fighting on the Western Front since that date.
