On 5th November, 1914, the 4th Middlesex battalion of 8 Brigade, 3rd Division were temporarily attached to the Indian Corps and at 1am on 14th November they relieved the 6th Jats of the Meerut Division at Pont Logy. Throughout the rest of the day they came under heavy shell fire that inflicted 17 casualties on the battalion, including 10 killed, before they were relieved that evening and moved back to billets in La Couture. One of those who did not survive the day was Frederick Langsworthy. |
