Horace Borthwick died from wounds on 21st November, 1914, after having been sent to a base hospital on the coast, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 5th Field Company of the Royal Engineers were part of 2nd Division which had been on the Western Front since the start of the war in August 1914.
