Alfred Bradshaw died from unspecified causes on 21st August, 1914, while serving with the 4th Royal Fusiliers battalion which had landed in France on 13th August, 1914 as part of 9 Brigade, 3rd Division. Three days after his death 4th Royal Fusiliers were in action in the opening battle of the war at Mons.
