Herbert Flemming died from wounds on 7th May, 1915, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 9th London battalion was at that time part of 13 Brigade, 5th Division, and had been in action during the Battle of Gravenstafel Ridge in April, 1915 when they had suffered many casualties.
