On 11th May, 1915, the 2nd Bedfordshire battalion of 21 Brigade, 7th Division moved into trenches at Indian Village near Le Touret in preparation for a British offensive later that month. Albert Burns was killed on 14th May during the preliminary bombardment of the enemy trenches that preceded this attack.
