Edward Ricketts died from wounds on 14th November, 1914, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 1st North Staffordshire battalion was part of 17 Brigade, 6th Division, that had arrived in France in September, 1914 and had been involved in much of the fighting since that date.
