Current Information:Age-27 19 Almeric Road, Wandsworth HMS Killingholme was a paddle steamer which started life as a ferry on the Humber River. Requisitioned by the Royal Navy she was converted into seaplane carrier, able to carry 2 or 3 seaplanes for coastal patrols. On 27th April, 1916 she either hit a mine or was torpedoed off the Humber estuary and badly damaged. 18 members of her crew were killed in the incident, including Herbert Cheston. |
