Current Information:CWGC-S STEVENS Born-Walworth La Brique Military Cemetery2, Belgium On 8th December, 1915, 8th Rifle Brigade of 41 Brigade, 14th Division, went into front line trenches in the northern part of the Ypres salient at a place known as the Forward Cottage Salient, close to Wieltje. Earlier in the day the artillery of a neighbouring division bombarded the enemy front line and in the evening there was a heavy artillery bombardment of their positions. Breastworks were blown in and six men were killed. The deaths were recorded as being on 9th December but the evidence from the war diary points to 8th December, 1915. |
