On 19th July, 1915, 16th London (Westminster Rifles), then part of 18 Brigade, 6th Division, moved into the front line in trenches south of the Verlorenhoek road in the north-east part of the Ypres salient, where they remained until 26th July. During this week there was the usual sniper and artillery activity by both sides. Rifleman Perry died of wounds on this day and he was likely to have been one of the many wounded during this period in the line.
