On 12th March, 1915, 1st Dorset battalion of 15 Brigade, 5th Division moved into the front line north of the canal at Ypres where they remained until relieved two days later. Charles Eastgate was killed here on 13th March, a day on which the enemy used trench mortars against Trench 32A which required extensive repairs and also targeted other trenches held by the battalion. |
