Current Information:

Between the 10th and 12th September the Germans, having been halted in their stride at the Battle of the Marne and desperate not to be cut off,  retreated to the River Aisne where the natural defences were very strong. The British and the French Armies followed in pursuit.

Driver Hodge died on this day but as yet we have no further information as to the nature of his death. That he has no known grave and is commemorated on ther La Ferte-sous-Jouaare Memorial to the missing suggests that he was killed in action.
