On 1st January, 1917, the 19th London battalion of 141 Brigade, 47th Division, were in support trenches at Woodcote Farm, Ypres, behind the Canal sector trenches. That evening they provided carrying parties taking supplies to the front line and two men, one of whom was Alfred Carpenter, were killed. |
