William Sandys began the war as a private in Lord Strathcona’s Horse of the Canadian Army and then joined the Royal Flying Corps in June, 1916. He joined 32 Squadron in August, 1917 and on 5th September, 1917 he was shot down by an enemy aircraft while flying his DH5 plane on a patrol over Ypres. He crashed into the Ypres canal and was killed. |
