1st Scots Guards of 1 Brigade, 1st Division had been involved in the fighting on the western front since the start of the war. Edward Smith died of wounds on 25th January, 1915, after having been evacuated back to a base hospital on the coast , but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. |
